Dr. Patrick Sookhdeo is the author or editor of more than fifteen books and has taught and lectured at many academic institutions around the world. His most recent book Islam in our Midst:"The Challenge to Our Christian Heritage" is based on a series of lectures he gave at the C.S.Lewis Institute.

He was born in 1947 in British Guyana, South America, into a Muslim family and converted to Christianity while a student in London where he received his Ph.D. in Islamic Studies from London University.

Together with his wife Rosemary, Dr. Sookhdeo worked within the increasingly Muslim community of East London as pastor of Saint Andrew`s Church. During this time he established the Barnabas Fund in the UK and later on Barnabas Aid in the USA. Today, Barnabas Fund is one of England's largest missionary organizations providing support to persecuted Christians throughout the world.

He is a fervent spokesman for persecuted Christian minorities around the world and has made many media appearances as an advocate for human rights and religious freedom. He is also a frequent commentator and lecturer on jihadist ideology and radical Islam. He is the author of Global Jihad:"The Future in the Face of Militant Islam", Understanding Islamist Terrorism, and Understanding Shari`a Finance:"The Muslim Challenge to Western Economics".
